Five paramedics with the Houston Fire Department were injured and an
SUV driver was killed when their vehicles collided in southeast Houston
Monday morning.
The firefighters were transporting a heart attack patient when their
ambulance and the SUV collided on Holman and St. Charles around 4 a.m.
The SUV driver died at the scene.
The firefighters were transported to the hospital. One suffered a broken leg and the other 4 were treated for minor injuries.
The heart attack patient and his niece who was riding with him were both expected to be OK.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Officials said the driver of the SUV may have been speeding.
