Monday, November 19, 2012 A man speeding early Sunday morning died after slamming into a Houston FD apparatus. An HFD fire truck was returning from a call around 4 a.m., backing into the parking lot of fire station #74. A witness, who was driving east along the road, said she stopped her vehicle and watched the truck slowly back into the station's parking lot with its lights flashing. A white Mitsubishi then passed her at a high rate of speed and slammed into the fire truck. The driver made no attempt to slow down or stop before crashing into the truck. Firefighters tried to help the driver but he was pronounced dead at the scene. No one in the fire truck was injured.
