A very sad week for the North Carolina Fire
Service family who lost 3 members this week in the Line of
or duty related.
On Wednesday, John M. Hall, a deputy Fire Marshal with Bladen County, died from
complications associated with heart issues. He reportedly became ill while
responding to a house fire last Saturday. Hall, 48, of Bladenboro was an
active with the Bladenboro FD and a Deputy Chief with the Clarkton FD.
Kernersville Fire Rescue Chief Walt Summerville died
unexpectedly from a possible heart attack at his home shortly after leaving
work Wednesday November 7, 2012. Chief Summerville had responded to a reported
triple shooting late in the afternoon of the previous day and had not been
feeling well afterwards. He participated in a town-wide United Way benefit on
Wednesday afternoon prior to leaving due to not feeling well and was later
found in cardiac arrest at his home.
As we previously reported, On Tuesday, David Tatum, 55, a
Lieutenant with the White Oak FD, died after complaints of feeling ill while
responding to a vehicle fire on Monday. He was taken to Bladen County Hospital
before being transferred to another where he was put on life support and then
passed away.
Our condolences to all affected by these losses. RIP. MORE DETAILS ON ALL 3 LOSSES HERE: www.firenews.net
PA FIREFIGHTER DEATH APPARENTLY NOT LODD:
We had a report from some of you of an LODD in PA-but it appears it was not. It
appears now that he was killed during an altercation with police Wednesday
afternoon. 42-year-old FF Brian Williams (a member of the Lake Winola Hose
Company) was killed in that altercation with police but it was not FD related
as far as we have been told. Williams was first tazed, then eventually shot by
police at his home. RIP. Our condolences to all affected.
"PEOPLE FIRE" FIRE FIGHTERS
In times of political sensitivity in China, security in the
capital city Beijing can get pretty crazy. The government, it seems, really
does not want any political disturbances during this week’s Party Congress, in
which the country will change leadership. This means that Beijing officials are
deploying, among other things, what has got to be one of the more unsettling
measures against dissent: Firefighter teams in Tiananmen Square. These
Firefighters are in position to immediately extinguish any protesters
that set themselves on fire. Seriously.
A fire truck responding to a house fire rolled on an
Interstate 84 onramp in Chubbuck when the water in the tanks shifted. The Idaho
State Police says the rollover crash happened shortly before 2300 last
night as members of the Chubbuck Fire Department were responding to
a trailer home fire. The Firefighters were taken to a
hospital in Pocatello for treatment.
Slow Down. Belt in.
