A Marshfield (MA) Firefighter was seriously injured early this morning in
a mutual aid dwelling fire in the Town of Scituate.
Marshfield
Lt. Joe Kilinowski was trapped beneath a collapsed building and was quickly
rescued by Firefighters within minutes. He was flown out by MedFlight
helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries.
“He’s
being evaluated now,” said Marshfield Fire Chief Kevin Robinson, who was at the
scene. “It appears his most significant injuries are burns to his back.”
The
three-alarm fire started at about 0125 hours at a home on Central Avenue.
Marshfield fire responded with mutual aid, as did Duxbury and Norwell.
According
to Chief Robinson, the fire spread to two more homes by 2:30. Within minutes,
the first home collapsed, trapping Lt. Kilinowski. Marshfield fire quickly
activated its rapid intervention team and was able to rescue Kilinowski. Other
Firefighters received minor injuries but were treated at the scene.
