A MOTORCYCLIST died yesterday after hitting a deer, careering across the road and being struck by an ambulance.
The accident happened when the 29-year-old man, who has not yet been named, was riding his Yamaha on the Coupar Angus-to-Dundee road a mile east of Piperdam in Angus at around 6.45am.
The ambulance was on a patient transfer. Its 65-year-old driver and two passengers were unhurt.
The motorcyclist, from the Coupar Angus area, was pronounced dead.
Investigators Inspector Grant Edward, head of Tayside Police's Road Policing Unit, said the ambulance driver stopped immediately, but could do nothing to save the man.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: "The deceased's details will not be released until next of kin have been informed.
"Crash investigators are carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances.
"Tayside Police would appeal to anyone who saw these vehicles in the area prior to the collision to contact them on 0300 111 2222."
