NSW paramedics hurt in ambulance crash - Australia

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 TWO paramedics have been flown to hospital by helicopter after a collision between their ambulance and a semi-trailer in Sydney's southwest.

The man and woman were responding to a triple zero call when the crash happened on Narellan Road at Mt Annan at about 2.45pm (AEDT) on Sunday.

One was trapped for 40 minutes and the other for 30 minutes before being freed by rescue crews, the Ambulance Service of NSW said in a statement.

The male paramedic suffered a head injury and was transported to Liverpool Hospital by rescue helicopter in a stable condition.

His female colleague suffered back and neck injuries and was airlifted to Westmead Hospital by helicopter, also in a stable condition.

The truck driver and his child passenger were not injured.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
