Thursday, August 16, 2012 Two EMS workers were hurt Tuesday afternoon after their ambulance crashed near downtown Bastrop. 

The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Department says it happened at around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Hwy 71 and Hwy 95. The ambulance was responding to a call when it was hit on the driver’s side by another vehicle.

Both EMS workers were transported to a hospital by helicopter. Their current condition is unknown.  A patient was not inside the ambulance at the time of the crash.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
