Ambulance involved in serious crash - Canada

Thursday, August 16, 2012 By Tina Peplinskie, OBSERVER MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST

PEMBROKE - At approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning, while responding to an emergency medical call, an ambulance operated by the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service was involved in a serious motor vehicle collision on Pembroke Street East. Two county paramedics and one paramedic student were treated on scene by another paramedic crew dispatch to the scene then transported to the Pembroke Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A second vehicle was involved in the crash that occurred at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Pembroke Street East. The driver of that vehicle, assessed at the scene, had no complaints and refused transport to the hospital.

As a result of the crash, a hydro pole was snapped off. Crews are currently working to re-route power and they expect to be able to replace the 65 foot pole without a power interruption.

Pembroke Street East remains closed between Catherine Street and Fraser Street.

The Pembroke Police Service is investigating the incident.
