At least two Los Angeles city firefighters were hospitalized with serious injuries when their rescue ambulance collided with a trash truck in Boyle Heights on Monday.
A man on the trash truck was also injured in the crash that took place about 2:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Soto Street where it intersects with Whitter Boulevard, said Fire Department spokesman Matt Spence.
It was not immediately known what caused the crash or the nature of the call that fire personnel were responding to, Spence said.
Nor was it clear why the trash truck was in the area.
Los Angeles police officials said the ambulance was responding Code 3, an emergency call to which a unit responds with lights and sirens.
