2 Los Angeles City Firefighters were hospitalized with serious injuries when their rescue ambulance crashed with a garbage truck in an intersection yesterday. A sanitation worker on the trash truck was also injured in the crash that took place about 1415 hours

Details as to what caused the crash or the nature of the call that the fire personnel were responding to isn't known - but the ambulance was responding with lights and sirens. Another "intersection" response warning for all of us. Red traffic light/stop sign=STOP ---and make sure it's clear before taking it-the alternatives just aren't worth the risk. We wish the members a rapid recovery.
