Wanted Man Totals Truck into Texas Fire Apparatus

Sunday, April 22, 2012 One man is in the custody of state troopers after colliding with a fire engine which was fighting a grass fire in Camp County. The incident happened off of FM 557 about 5 miles east of Pittsburg.  Officials say the man hit the fire engine with his pickup truck, which left the fire engine with minimal damage. The pickup truck however is totaled.

The driver of the pickup truck did receive minor injuries and was arrested for outstanding warrants.

The fire is now contained and only burned about 2 acres. Officials say they were able to contain the fire before it spread into a nearby heavily wooded area.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but officials think it may have started by a discarded cigarette or a vehicle parked on dry grass.

No structures were damaged in this incident and no other injuries were reported.
