AR ENGINE STRUCK WHILE RESPONDING

Friday, April 20, 2012 A Rogers Fire Department truck was involved in a crash on Friday morning.
Rogers police said 36-year-old Samantha Tygart, of Rogers, was going south on North Second Street in a 2005 Impala when she tried to stop for a fire truck, but the car began skidding on wet roadway and hit the passenger's side of the truck.
Firefighter Matthew Burnett, 27, of Rogers, was driving north on North Second Street with lights and sirens en route to assist a medical unit in Brush Creek at the time of the crash, investigators said.
Police said Tygart's car side-swiped the truck and then hit the guard rail on the east side of the road. She was taken by the Fire Department to Mercy Medical Center for minor injuries.
There were two other RFD personnel in the truck, but they were uninjured.
Tygart was cited for careless driving.
