A slurry bomber trying to land at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport crashed yesterday, suspending drops on 2 of the larger wildfires burning in Colorado. Both the pilot and the co-pilot are OK. Slurry bombers are used to carry fire retardant to be dropped onto fires. Rangers at Rocky Mountain National Park say slurry drops used to fight the fires have been suspended at both the Cow Creek Fire burning in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Round Mountain Fire until further notice.
