This evening, the Chief of the Neshanic Fire Company which protects areas of Somerset County, NJ responded and arrived on the scene of a house fire. The fire was reported in the basement with smoke showing on arrival. As companies were working, interior crews called command several times-with no answer. Moments later, it was found that the Incident Commander-the Chief of Neshanic Fire Company was down, in cardiac arrest. Immediate life saving efforts including CPR, was started and he received several shocks from an AED that was on the scene with EMS. The Chief was revived and transported in critical but stable condition. More details to follow.
