Man shoots at firefighters in Milford, DE

     

Friday, April 30, 2010 Milford Police have arrested a 33-year old man after shots were fired from a rifle at firefighters in the Brightway Commons. The Carlisle Fire Dept. had responded to an alarm when members saw someone firing several times at their vehicle. Jason Leibly of Ellendale faces numerous charges including his third DUI offense. No firefighters were injured nor was there any equipment damaged.

PRESS RELEASE:

On 04/28/2010, at approximately 5:37 PM, Milford Police were called to the community of Brightway Commons where there was a report that a subject was firing a rifle at firefighters. The investigation reveals that the Carlisle Fire Department had responded to an alarm at the complex when members observed an individual fire several times at their vehicle. The suspect fled prior to officers arriving but was stopped a short distance from where the incident occurred. Police Arrested 33 year old Jason E. Leibly of Ellendale when he was stopped and found in possession of a .177 caliber pneumatic rifle, and ammunition. Leibly was charged with 7 counts of First Degree Reckless Endangering, 7 counts of Aggravated Menacing, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Third Offense DUI Alcohol, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Discharge of a Rifle, Disorderly Conduct, and traffic offenses. Leibly was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed in default of Secured Bond. According to the Carlisle Fire Chief, there were no firefighters injured nor was any equipment damaged during the incident.
