Superheroes deal with depression too!

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 Superheroes in Comics deal with same issues as “Super Heroes” in Gear!
Marvel comics have waded into the uncomfortable area of depression and suicide through its character “Captain America”. The story has been developed to relate that even those who are looked at to “save the day” also are susceptible to mental health challenges.
The analogy tied between those in the fire service donning their turn out gear to meet the need to “rise to the occasion” in order to “do what others may not be capable of” compared to the super hero who dons their costume to come to the rescue is an easy comparison.
Take the time to look at this link below and see if you can relate or maybe even use this as a different approach to someone who may be in a mental health struggle right now. The American fire service is full of men and women who represent the values of Captain America on a daily basis. Unfortunately we also are just as susceptible to these challenges in our day to day lives.
