I have been an active firefighter for 30 years now. When the doctor tells you to have blood work done and take a stress test DO IT! Just because you are feeling good and don’t have any problems, take his advice. If I didn’t have a coughing incident at the fire station and our medical director seen me and she put on the life pack patches on to check me over. She said that I have to make a doctor’s appointment right a way. My doc asked me about the stress test and blood work that he told me to get a couple of years ago, I told him that I didn’t have it done, so he made the appointment and said that I have to have it done. After having the tests done, he told me that I have to have a heart cath performed, so I said ok. After the cath was over he stated to me that I was very lucky and a surgeon will come see me. He told me that I have 3 blocked arteries (95%, 98%, and 99% blocked) after the triple bypass was done I asked him if I would of survived another fire and he told me that it would be highly unlikely. so in conclusion, even you feel great keep those doctor appointments, and do what he says.
