"WE are family with a focused goal... no one gets left behind, and no one is ever forgotten."

Ya like that quote? Great! Now get off your ass and get some training going for you and your crew... EVERY DAY IS A TRAINING DAY. No More Whiney Assed Excuses!

Mission Statement

FirefighterCloseCalls.com was an idea born from The Secret List, an independent newsletter produced since 1998 in an effort to bring forward the issues involving injury and death to firefighters... often issues that are ignored, quickly forgotten or just not talked about. Originally started as an e-mail group amongst some close friends in the fire service, it is currently received by thousands of fire service members.

With the attitude that in order for firefighters to survive the dangers of the job, we must learn how other firefighters have had "Close Calls" and even been injured or killed, this site and TSL will continue the "No BS" history of bringing forward issues in an effort to enforce that philosophy-and get firefighters to refocus on "what's important." The intent is not to "Monday Morning Quarterback" or purposely embarrass anyone, but to provide as factual information as possible as provided by our visitors-with commentary to allow the reader to THINK and decide if, or what they wanna do in order to prevent the bad stuff from occurring again. We always welcome corrections or updated information.

As a friend of ours once said, no matter how the firefighting changes, as long as we commit to interior searches for trapped people and interior fire attacks to suppress fires-this job will remain a dirty "hands-on" occupation requiring aggressive, daily training to be of the same "scene" aggressiveness with a strong focus on our safety. Hopefully, TSL and FirefighterCloseCalls.Com helps set that tone by also "putting our $$ where our mouth is", that is, by providing this site as well as SOLUTIONS to help make the job that much safer, such as with our WEEKLY FIRE DRILL sections as well as our SOP'S/SOG's sections.
