Funeral services for a Roane County firefighter who was killed Saturday while responding to a fire will be held Saturday at Roane County High School in Spencer.
Firefighter Mark Horwich was driving a fire truck for the Clover-Roane Volunteer Fire Department that crashed on the way to a structure fire. Public viewing will be at 11 a.m. with a full firefighter funeral at noon. Graveside services will follow at Ferrell Cemetery along Route 36 in Looneyville.
here has been an outpouring of support since the firefighter’s death. The city of Spencer released a statement about the fallen firefighter.
“His family, his fire department and our community is devastated by this sudden tragedy,” the city said. “From all of us at the city of Spencer, we extend our sincerest condolences to the loved ones of Mark Horwich. You have our hearts.”
Horwich was the owner Fire Station Software, a business that provided record-keeping software for fire departments.
