Minor injuries were reported from a single-vehicle ambulance accident on Robert C. Byrd Drive early Saturday morning. General Ambulance director of operations Bryan Hylton said a General Ambulance vehicle crashed into a utility pole near Shoney’s about 7:20 a.m.
”One of our emergency medical technicians suffered only minor injuries and will be returning back to work this week,” Hylton said Saturday. ”There was a patient inside the ambulance that was not harmed and transported on to their destination by General Ambulance.” No other vehicles were involved in the crash and Beckley police are still investigating the accident. No citations were issued, Hylton said.
”I believe it will be ruled nobody’s fault,” Hylton said. ”We believe there was some type of mechanical failure, but that has not yet been confirmed.”
The power pole may have already been replaced, Hylton said.
