firefighter was taken to the hospital after a fire in Laurel County Thursday afternoon.
It happened on Farley Road around 3:45 a.m.
Firefighters say at first they thought someone was trapped inside the home, but later learned there was no one inside.
The fire was out in about 10-15 minutes.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Crews say they worked quickly to make sure the fire didn’t spread in the dry conditions.
“Anytime you have a structure fire, that’s always in the back of your mind that if it gets out and into the grass… Everything around here seems to be relatively close to woodlines, so that’s always a possibility we’re concerned with,” Deputy Chief Frank Viotolato of the East Bernstadt Fire Department tells LEX18.
While the homeowners are ok, firefighters say their home is a total loss.
