It is with deep regret we pass on to you the Line of Duty Death Firefighter Thomas McBride, 60, of Campbellsburg Fire Rescue in Campbellsburg, Kentucky (30 miles northeast of downtown Louisville).
While participating in search and rescue training just before 2100 hours last night, Firefighter McBride complained of difficulty breathing. He removed his breathing apparatus, denied medical treatment, cooled down, stated that he felt better and requested to return to the training. Instead, he was assigned to pump operations. A short time later, he collapsed.
Resuscitation efforts were started immediately and he was transported to an area hospital where he later died. Firefighter McBride was 60 years old and had served as a Firefighter for just over 42 years — officially starting on his 18th birthday. He had served with Campbellsburg Fire and Rescue for approximately 10 years. He is survived by his adult son (22) and daughter (28), his parents and a grandson. Additional details will be posted on www.SupportingHeroes.org
Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace.
