Investigation results have returned, on Monday night’s firefighter equipment failures. San Antonio FD says one firefighter’s breathing mask fell apart because of a loose screw. This happened during a house fire on Burnet. SAFD is unable to determine why another firefighter’s breathing tank failed at the same location. The city recently paid $2 million for new gear from a different manufacturer. The equipment should come within a week. Meanwhile, this week’s events have sparked anger among members of the Firefighters Union. Yesterday, the president of the union met with City Manager Sheryl Sculley to demand the chief’s resignation. Sculley has not indicated whether she will take action.
