A Fort Wayne, Indiana firefighter was treated and released after a ceiling collapsed on him during an early-morning fire Monday.
Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the front of an historic building around 3 a.m. Monday. When the first-arriving crew forced the door, they were met with heavy fire conditions on the first-floor ceiling.
During suppression efforts, one firefighter was hit with debris when the ceiling collapsed. It took more than an hour to strike the fire.
The fire caused major damage to the building that the News-Sentinel reports was built in 1918. The cause and origin are under investigation.
