Harvey firefighter suffered minor injuries at a house fire early Tuesday, authorities said.
The firefighter may have pulled a muscle in his back and was treated at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, said Harvey spokesman Sean Howard.
No other injuries were reported from the fire at a two-story home in the 16400 block of Emerald Avenue, Howard said. The homeowners were out of town.
The Harvey Fire Department responded to the fire about 3:15 a.m. and found the closest fire hydrants were frozen, Howard said. Firefighters used water from their trucks for about 18 minutes before they could get water from a hydrant on Halsted Street, he said.
The fire did not spread, and it was 95 percent extinguished by 6:15 a.m.
Due to the dangerously cold weather, firefighters were working in 20-minute rotations.
