Three others in the truck suffered minor injuries. Two were expected to be released from University Medical Center Saturday afternoon, Hixson said. The names of the firefighters have not been released. The incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. Friday. Two units from Fire Station Six were responding to reports of smoke in an apartment complex near Rainbow Boulevard and Silverstream Avenue. The name of the complex was unclear Saturday. Firefighters did not find a fire based on the call. The fire engine, followed by a ladder truck, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 95. The fire engine rolled onto its left side while trying to exit at the Rainbow Boulevard ramp. It skidded several feet before sliding into a guardrail. The Rainbow offramp was closed at midnight and did not reopen until 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Hixson said. The four injured firefighters were taken to University Medical Center.
