Investigators are trying to determine the cause of an early-morning blaze that tore through the Travel Inn, leaving three people – including a firefighter – hurt.
Fort Wayne fire crews arrived at the hotel at 2712 Coliseum Blvd. W., about 1:10 a.m. Friday and found flames overwhelming a room, according to the fire department.
A man at the location escaped the room, but paramedics took him to a hospital in serious condition with burns on his back. A firefighter needed hospitalization for minor injuries as well, officials said.
Another guest at the lodge was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters said the blaze, which was under control in 20 minutes, caused heavy damage to the room and nearby rooms in the two-story building as well.
