A former firefighter and ambulance employee was killed in a shootout with police that also injured an officer, according to a Parchment city official.
Brandon Stacey, 31, was killed in an exchange of gunfire with Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers on Tuesday, March 12, Parchment City Manager Nancy Stoddard said.
Stacey was a paid, on-call firefighter in Parchment, Stoddard said, from June 26, 2013, until Aug. 7, 2017.
Stacey also worked at Life EMS Ambulance service from February 2016 until he resigned in August 2017, according to a statement made on behalf of the company by public relations firm Seyferth PR.
