More than 70 firefighters were on scene to battle an apartment complex fire that left five firefighters suffering from heat-related illness; three were transported for treatment.
Los Angeles County, Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia and San Gabriel firefighters battled a three-alarm fire early Thursday morning that left 40 residents displaced, according to the Pasadena Star-News.
One resident told the paper she did not hear any smoke alarms going off.
The fire began in one of the upstairs units and quickly moved into the attic space. A portion of the roof collapsed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
