Technology. Easily an integral part of the job today. Certainly, adequate staffing and well trained Firefighters remain the solution (especially when buildings aren’t sprinklered) regardless of the conditions-but technology has improved our ability to save those in trouble, minimize us getting in trouble and helping us when we do get in trouble. Technology has made a huge difference to the fire service.
Last Fall, more than 80 fire related professionals, including technologists, scientists, scholars, and Firefighters gathered to share their insights as to where the fire service is headed in terms of technological innovation. This meeting was planned and executed to support Firefighter Life Safety Initiative #8: Utilize available technology wherever it can produce higher levels of health and safety.
