March 13, 2017, is a date firefighter Chris Thongmanee will never forget.
While attempting to put out a house fire, the roof of the house collapsed with Thongmanee underneath it.
“It felt like somebody took a 4-by-4, like a really big piece of wood, and they just hit me with all their might on top of my head,” Thongmanee said. “And the next thing you know, I’m basically on my back, pinned, and I couldn’t move my arms or legs.”
Thongmanee was trapped for almost two minutes and was unable to radio for help. His fellow firefighters rushed to his side and were able to pull him out by his leg.
“Oh gosh, that could’ve been the big one,” Thongmanee said. “If it wasn’t for my brothers there to pull me out, I don’t think I would have been here. For sure.”
