Mesa (Arizona) Firefighters were able to get out of a dwelling on fire before the roof collapsed. A mother and her teenage daughter heard smoke detectors and noticed fire in the kitchen of their home near McDowell and Recker roads Wednesday night. Both were able to make it out of the house safely. Crews from the Mesa Fire Medical Department responded to the fire at around 2200 hours. Firefighters were inside the home when they noticed the roof starting to give. They got out of the house a couple of minutes before the roof collapsed. The house is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
