A Fire Captain being a “Good Samaritan” was killed after trying to assist at a crash in Monona (near Madison, Wisconsin) on New Year’s Eve. The drunk driver that hit him has been arrested. The nearby Lake Mills Fire Department confirmed the victim, Chris Truman, was a Captain with their department.
Cops initially responded to a report of one car crash on the eastbound side of a road known as “The Beltline”, near a bridge over the Yahara River.
Fire Captain Chris Truman, in a second car, stopped (as most of us would) to assist in the first crash, and he was struck by the third car. Captain Truman was seriously hurt, treated and was taken to a local hospital where he died shortly after arrival. The driver of the third vehicle was arrested for homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Our sincere condolences to all those affected by this loss. Rest In Peace.
