Sad news out of Houston (Texas) as Captain Leroy Lucio, a 29-year veteran of the department, was battling the virus at a hospital in his hometown of San Antonio, has died. The HFD’s Firefighter Support Network and members of the HFD Honor Guard were with him and his family. Lucio was a Captain at Houston Fire Station 103 in the Kingwood area and is the first Firefighter in Houston to die from the virus, the union said, adding that his passing will be classified as a Line of Duty Death.
NOTE: Captain Lucio is the 59th COVID related Firefighter Line of Duty related Death for 2020, according to the stats kept by the NFFF. Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace.
2 FIREFIGHTERS INJURED AT THE GOLD FIRE-CALIFORNIA
Two firefighters were injured Monday at the scene of a fire burning in rural northeastern California.
The 2 Firefighters were taken to the hospital but their injuries and their conditions weren’t immediately known. The firefighters were called to battle the Gold fire, which erupted Monday in Lassen County south of the community of Adin. The fire has burned several hundred acres.
Another fire in Lassen County, the Hog fire, west of Susanville, prompted mandatory evacuations and threatened about 170 buildings after starting Friday. That fire had grown to nine square miles.
