We regret to pass on that Houston (Texas) Fire Capt. Tommy Searcy, 45, died Tuesday after a months-long battle with coronavirus. The 18-year veteran of the department spent weeks in intensive care at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands.
In their effort to help save their colleague’s life, members of Searcy’s Station 67 crew and the fire union battled red tape to help him get an experimental drug. In the early hours of August 18, Searcy’s coworkers even escorted the drug from Houston Methodist hospital to The Woodlands hospital where Searcy was being treated in the ICU. His death will be classified as a line-of-duty death by the HFD and sadly, is the third Houston firefighter to die from complications of COVID-19. Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In peace.
TEXAS FIREFIGHTER MAYDAY
A Firefighter became trapped in a vacant house fire in east Fort Worth this morning after a portion of the roof collapsed onto him. Two Firefighters were injured, one with burns, and are in stable condition.
Firefighters responded to the structure a little after 0500 and had heavy fire on arrival. This was when the first Firefighter was injured, sustaining minor burn injuries to the leg. Some time later, a mayday was transmitted when part of the roof collapsed onto another Firefighter.
*****FIREFIGHTER NEEDS ASSISTANCE…..YOUR HELP REQUESTED*****
A good friend of ours (a Firefighter-Lieutenant) in our own community is fighting cancer. Julie is a young, tough outstanding company officer in her 30s and is now in a challenging battle.
There is a local fundraiser with both long and short sleeve shirts-so if you can help, please do…it is very appreciated. Cool weather is here or coming-and you can ALWAYS use a long sleeve 😉
Take Care. Be Careful. Pass It On.
