A death investigation is underway after a volunteer firefighter was shot and killed in the Line of Duty in Josephine County. The Illinois Valley Fire District was called out to an incident Thursday morning in the 900 block of Caves Highway in Cave Junction. One of its Firefighters was responding to the call when he was shot and killed.
On July 23, 2018, Howard County (MD) Firefighter Lieutenant Nate Flynn was killed in the Line of Duty. He died while operating in a single family dwelling fire in Clarksville, Maryland. Firefighter Flynn was a member of the Special Operations Team and assigned to Station 10. A 13-year member of the department, known for his attention to detail and passion for learning, Firefighter Flynn was posthumously promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

Millhouse says the firefighter attempted to pull her out but couldn’t. He says the woman, in her distress, knocked the firefighter’s mask off. Millhouse says the firefighter was making gear adjustments and preparing to go into the flames to rescue her.
