A firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor burn Monday morning as Dallas Fire-Rescue crews tried to extinguish an apartment fire in northeast Dallas.
Flames reached through the roof of a two-story building at the Veranda at Midtown complex in the 6500 block of Melody Lane, near Skillman Street and Northwest Highway.
Firefighters were called to the scene just before 8:45 a.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.
No residents were injured, but at least six apartments sustained fire, smoke or water damage, Evans said. Twenty-five residents were displaced, and the American Red Cross is working to assist them.
The injured firefighter was released from the hospital later Monday.
Officials haven’t determined the cause of the fire.
