A mother and her son are in critical condition after a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Temple Hills, Maryland.
Fire officials say the victims were taken to an area hospital, and two firefighters are receiving treatment for burns to their ears at a burn unit.
Neighbors say a witness heard the man, who lives in the house, scream from inside of the home.
When neighbors attempted to rescue the man and woman from the residence, the flames and smoke were so strong it pushed them backward, according to ABC7’s Stephen Tschida.
Tschida learned from the victims neighbors that the son was the primary caregiver for his mother.
Firefighters removed both victims from a home in the 5200 block of Lorraine Drive.
