St. Louis (MO) firemen stabilize Battalion Chief Doug Cribbs before he is moved to a hospital on Thursday night.
Cribbs was traveling west on St. Louis Avenue about 7 p.m., heading to a fire
in the 4100 block of Maffitt Avenue, when his fire department SUV was hit by a
car and knocked over. He was in serious but stable condition and was conscious
and talking, a spokesman said.
The other driver fled from the scene, police said. Authorities pulled from the
wreckage a passenger and took him to a hospital, where he was reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Police said the car had been stolen. They’re seeking two suspects in connection
with the incident.
