From time to time there have been close calls involving aerial ladder waterway’s going “airborne” at fire scenes. There have also been related Firefighter injuries and fatalities.
Today’s incident (2 videos attached) occurred at a multi-alarm row of stores. The apparatus involved is an older American-LaFrance/110′ LTI. Very initial reports are that a pin was removed but it was apparently not placed in the 2nd position. When the waterway was charged, it resulted in the flying pipe.
Thankfully no one was injured in today’s incident. DOWNLOAD VIDEOS HERE: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4pgg9fz2na2fo4h/AABMKqcEQvHwnc0fNozuhRTWa?dl=0
