Firefighters saved the life of one of their own Wednesday when a 75-year-old man was resuscitated using CPR while responding to an emergency call, police said.
Borough police officers and firefighters were dispatched to the NVE Bank at 400 River Road just before 10:30 p.m. on a report of a water leak, said Police Chief Frank Ramaci.
Units from Fire Co. 1 were responding when one of them on a fire truck had a “cardiac emergency” and became unresponsive, Ramaci said.
The fire truck stopped at River Road and Center Street and firefighters and police officers administered CPR to the man, resuscitating him, the chief said.
Firefighters took the man, whose name was withheld, to Hackensack University Medical Center, Ramaci said.
