One person died and three firefighters were injured in a mobile home fire in Kelowna.
Fire crews were called to the 3500-block of McCulloch Road just before 5 a.m. on Sunday.
“When he kicked the front door, it folded in half and just went poof. It was gone,” Kevin Cutting, who called 911 said. “You could see the air go into it immediately and everything was vaporizing. It was unbelievable.”
Three firefighters were hurt when a roof collapsed. Their injuries are non-life threatening.
“You know, it’s part of our family,” Fire Investigator Rick Euper said. “when that happens, things change. We work hard to get our guys safe, and that’s what they did.”
Four engines, a rescue truck a, command vehicle and safety with 25 personnel all attended the scene.
RCMP and Fortis were also at the incident.
The fire is not suspicious, but an investigation is ongoing.
Kelowna’s fire department is reminding everyone to have a working smoke alarm.
