PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — Two firefighters are recovering after suffering injuries battling two separate blazes in Prince George’s County.
The first happened at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at 3016 Kaverton Street in Forestville at an auto body shop, according to Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady.
“Investigators say fire was accidental and occurred when a car fuel tank was being removed,” he tweeted. “1 shop employee suffered minor burns as well as one firefighter.”
Both were taken to the burn unit.
Just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, firefighters responded to the second floor of a two-story single-family home in the 15700 block of Sherwood Avenue in Laurel.
One firefighter suffered a “sudden illness” at the scene and was taken to the hospital, Brady said. No one else was injured.
Three adults and one child were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The home was declared a $100,000 loss.
