There have now been 15 New Jersey EMS LODD’s from COVID-19. This latest LODD is the 3rd one from the same EMS Unit. Tragically EMT (and former Fire Chief) David Pinto, of the Wallington Fire Department, died Sunday from complications related to the coronavirus. Pinto was an EMT with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which oversees the Meadowlands complex.
Pinto was the third EMT from the NJSEA to die from COVID-19, following the losses of John Ferrarella and Dr. Frank Molinari. Across New Jersey, at least 15 EMTs have died from the disease.
Chief Pinto “fought a great fight and will be greatly missed,” the Wallington Fire Department said in a statement. Chief Pinto leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife, Barbara; his daughter, Nicole; and his son, David Jr. He also had one grandson.
Our condolences to all those affected.
NOTE: As of last Friday, there have been 50 Fire & EMS LODD’s from COVID-19 according to the NFFF. (29 fire service and 21 EMS personnel).
Take Care. Be Careful. Pass it On.
